This beautiful crochet pattern comes in sizes 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-13, xs,s,m,l,xl. I have given instructions for sizes 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 & 9-10 to be a dress and for sizes 11-13, XS, S, M, L & XL to be a top. It would be so easy to make the smaller sizes into a top or the larger sizes into a dress. It is completely up to you.
Construction
The right strap is made first, then the middle panel, followed by the left strap. You then add the side panels and seam the straps to each side panel. For the kids sizes, two back panels are constructed but for sizes XS, S and M this is not needed as we want a tight fit around the waist.
Fit
The dress/top is meant to be very fitted. There should be a negative ease of approximately 5-10cm/2-4in. If you choose a size that is less than your bust measurement, it will still fit nicely as there is a tie in the back which gives you some extra wiggle room with the fit.
Materials:
*4.00mm(U.S G/6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
*Cotton DK yarn. I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Dk in the colour Vanilla Cream (408) & Seafoam Blue (432). See chart in the photos for approximately how much yarn you will need.
*tapestry needle
Gauge:
17stitches/16 rows= 10cmX10cm (4X4 inch) square in hdc between the sts
Stitches and abbreviations used:
st or sts- stitch or stitches
sl st- slip stitch
ch- chain stitch
hdc- half double crochet, between the posts, see explanation on the next page.
RS- right side
WS- wrong side
sc/ch1/sc- single crochet, chain one, single crochet
