Vivienne Dress Crochet Pattern

I absolutely love Stylecraft Naturals yarn with cotton and bamboo (not sponsored 😉). I first used it for the Josephine Dress and completely fell in love. So when I saw this moody blue shade called Downpour, I knew I had to turn it into another dress. I had this vision of an exaggerated lace ruffle around the yoke, and it came together even better than I imagined.

The dress is worked from the top down, beginning with a yoke made in half double crochet stitches. The sleeves are then separated to create armholes, and after a couple of rows on the body, the skirt section begins. The skirt features a simple but beautiful combination of cluster V-stitches and double crochets—an easy pattern that’s so satisfying to stitch.

To finish it off, a row of surface-crocheted double crochet V-stitches is added into the third loop of row 6, forming the base of the yoke ruffle. From there, the same lace pattern is used to create the rest of the ruffle, adding that perfect finishing touch. This classic dress makes a lovely handmade gift, a special occasion piece, or simply a “just because she wants to feel pretty” dress for your little one.

Materials:
*3.5mm (U.S. E-4) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
*DK yarn – I used Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo & Cotton in the colour Downpour (7151).
250m / 273yds / 100g per skein. See chart in the listing photos for approximately how much yarn you will need.

*2–4 buttons (2cm / 0.75in)
*Stitch markers

20 sts / 16 rows = 10cm x 10cm (4 x 4 in) in hdc sts
